Cardinal Greenway,
Inc. formerly a section of the CSX railway
line,
is the longest rails-to-trails project in Indiana. An important part
of the
American Discovery Trail, Cardinal
Greenway, Inc. was designated a
National Recreation Trail in June 2003.
The White River Greenway follows the White River
as it winds through Muncie.
Both the Cardinal and White River Greenway trails have asphalt surfaces and
can accommodate multiple users. All rest areas and trail heads are
handicapped accessible.
In rural areas of Cardinal Greenway, an earthen horse trail parallels the paved
trail—please remember horses are not permitted on asphalt trails!
